European Digital Rights (EDRi)

European Digital Rights (EDRi) consists of a network of 35 civil society and human rights organizations based in 19 European countries and advocates for the protection of online privacy, against disproportionate surveillance measures and censorship, and for the protection of freedom of expression online.

The Internet has promoted freedom of communication and democracy, but it has also led to new approaches to surveillance and is increasingly being used to impose restrictions on fundamental rights. When citizens’ rights and freedoms in the online environment are threatened by the actions of political or private organizations, EDRi works to ensure that they are respected.
